 Let's Take a Raincheck...
« Thread Started on Mar 22, 2006, 4:32pm »

Walking up his garden path, ignoring the beauty of the scenery that he had seen a thousand times, Kaz pulled his keys out of his pocket and opened the door, motioning for Shaylah to follow him inside for a minute. ”Mum! You home?” he called, not hearing any sounds around the place. ”Obviously not,” he smirked, looking back at his friend. Putting the keys down on the hall table for a minute, he walked into the living room, seeing that he had left his wallet on the settee. ”It must have fallen out of my pocket when I put my coat on,” he explained, slipping it into his pocket. ”I’m sorry the place is a bit of a state… we’re still kind of moving in, you know?”

Even though his voice held a note of worry, seeing whether she liked the place, Kaz really wasn’t bothered. It was if they had known each other for years, and Shaylah had seen everything before… it was bizarre to say the least. ”Would you like a drink or anything before we go? I’ll just warn you now, I still have no idea where on earth there is to eat in Knoxville… I haven’t really taken the time to explore, so we’ll have to rely on you.” Kaz draped himself on the settee, and looked to Shaylah to relax and do the same, waiting for her verdict on everything.

Shay followed behind him, closely. Examining the front area and the inside. 'Rather nice...' She thought, still smiling. "Yeah, it's nice though." The soft voice commented, looking back to Kassiel. She sat next to him, oddly close as well. Shaylah felt really good around Kassiel, even if she had just met him. He was great...so nice and so cool. Humorous and adorable.

A soft giggle was given from her as she looked up at Kassiel. "I've recently moved here as well. We can like...look around or something." Shoulders rolled in a simple shrug. Gentley, Shay cuddled against him. Feeling a slight shiver bolt down her spine at being so close to him, the guy she now had a huge crush on already.

”I’d like that. At least if we look around everywhere together, we don’t look stupid separately,” he laughed, finally noticing how close she was to him. Did she realise how close she was? To be honest, as far as women went, Kaz was really naïve. Why would they like him: seriously? Helen always told him what a loser he was, and he eventually believed her cruel words, losing confidence in himself. All of a sudden, the house phone rang. ”Sorry, I won’t be a sec,” he apologised, and then picked up the phone in the hall.

”Hello?” He tried to stay quiet, but Shaylah would still be able to hear him.

”Hey, sugar,” the voice replied. Helen. Of all the times, why did she have to ring now? She knew how he felt about her, but she insisted on killing him slowly…

”What the hell do you want? You know I don’t want you calling here!”

”Aw, poor ickle Kassie! Don’t you miss me? I was calling to see if you wanted to get together sometime… my dad would happily drop me off for a few days…”

Kaz never had any idea where this came from. She randomly called him to wind him up, knowing how much she had once meant to him, all to drag his heart through the mud again, and again… ”Just leave me alone, will you!?” he shouted, an slammed down the phone, heart pounding.

He walked back into the room with Shaylah, jaws clenched. ”I’m really sorry about that. You know, I think I’ll get us a drink anyway.” Kaz then walked into his kitchen, trying to compose himself. Even the sound of her voice hurt him… it was so cruel and calculating… he hated it with a passion, yet would never be over it… He choked back emotion as he brought through some iced coke, handing one glass to Shaylah, and swigging some of the other himself.

Shaylah looked at him a bit worried of his tone; 'What was going on?...' She wondered as she stood up and partly followed him into the kitchen. A quick sigh was given before Shay walked up behind him and softly stroked his back along his spine. "What's the matter?" The soft yet coarse voice questioned as she stood behind him and a little to the side. hand still stroking from the back of his neck to the center area of the spine, trying to help him feel better. What was wrong with poor Kassiel? Who called that could possibly make him so...upset? It was obvious he wasn't well because of this...and Shaylah wanted to help him, so he wasn't always down. Possibly she could tell him how she already felt about him...it was going to happen sooner or later no doubt.

The thoughts of sharing her early feelings scared her a bit; but she was ok with it. "If you don't mind...may I tell you something? It may make you feel better but then again it might make you feel more upset..." She explained and questioned in a soft, soft and dainty voice. Making her seem a bit shy from the whole thing. Then again she slightly was, but she wasn't at the same time. Softly her hand continued to gentley pet him, caringly and lovingly. Such a moment...

Jessi sighed as she walked up towards the house, trying to think to herself why she was coming to see her Kaz....Well, did she really need a reason? Might as well find one, because she knew there was a reason. Just to see him? That could be it. Just to come see him, and get away from the people in this town that open there mouths when she didn't even speak to them...? Yes, that has to be it. Once more, a guy asked her if she was alright...that's just messed up! These people didn't know she could be from like...the Mafia or something! Shaking her head, she sighed once more, standing in front of the door as she knocked on it, unaware of what was going on inside.

As she stood there, she began to think about the past. Not too long ago...Jesse hit her in the face. Not an open handed hit, but a clenched fist hit to the face. This is why she feared him now. This world was screwed up. When you used to love someone, you don't go out and try to have them killed, you grow up and move on. But, she assumed the world was back-wards now. Shaking her head, she knew she still had a fairly large bruise on her face, but she tried to make it seem like it didn't bother her. Well, at least she still had Mick and Kaz to fall back on, considering her emotional state of mind at this point. Shaking her head, she looked back up at the door, wondering when Kaz would open it. She needed to see his face to at least help mend the broken heart forced on her.
